VOV.VN - No fresh coronavirus case was recorded on May 23, marking the 37th straight day the country has gone without community transmission, while the overall number of successfully cured patients rose to 267, according to the Ministry of Health.
Over the course of May 15-18, Vietnam recorded 36 fresh positive cases returning from abroad, raising the total of imported cases to 184 who are immediately isolated after their entry.
On May 22, one more coronavirus patient (case No149), a 40-year-old Vietnamese man was released from hospital. On April 16 he was declared to have fully recovered for the first time by the Quang Ninh Hospital No 2. His test result came back positive again on April 21. The patient then continued to undergo different tests and his results from April 28 to May 5 were negative for the SARS-CoV-2.
His health is stable and he will be subject to a compulsory 14-day quarantine period as set out by the Ministry of Health.
The same day, the 43-year-old British pilot (case No 91), he was transferred to Ho Chi Minh City- based Cho Ray Hospital from the Hospital for Tropical Diseases as he tested negative for the virus multiple times.
The patient is now undergoing continued treatment at the hospital’s intensive care unit.
According to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, There are currently 57 out of 324 confirmed cases being treated at different health facilities nationwide with six testing negative for SARS-CoV-2 while three negative for the virus twice.
Currently, more than 14,740 patients having close contacts with confirmed patients or entering from COVID-19-hit areas are being in quarantine, at hospitals, at concentrated quarantine facilities, and at homes or at places of residence.
